HOWARD, William Garrett

Covington, Ind. William Garret Howard Jr. 55, of rural Covington, died at 11:34 a.m. CST tuesday, Nov 7 1978, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been ill for about seven months and a patient four day.s Howard was a member of the Fulton Banta American legion Post 291 where he was a past commander. He also was a member of the VFW Post 2395. Howard was a letter carrier for the past 25 and a half years, 17 years in the Covington area and eight and a half on Route 3. He attended the First Baptist Church and had been a Christian since attending a revival march 2 195 at the Yeddo Baptist Church. His hobbies were gardening, carpentry, writing poetry and fishing. He graduated from Covington High in 1941. Born May 28 1923 in Covington, he wa the son of William and Roberta Baldwin Howard. He married Delores Cates in 19 in Veedersburg. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Gary and Steve both of Covington, and David at home; three daughters, Mrs. Linda Kunert of Danville, Mrs. Brenda Crowder of rural Covington and Leila at home; four sisters, Mrs. Retha Simerl, Mrs. Lois Allan, Mrs. kagte Hale and Mrs. Iola Darnell all of Covington; and four grandchildren. A son preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at the DeVerter Funeral Home in covington with the Rev. Edgar F. Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - thanks Betty D :)
